Lawn Bowls, as a sport, has long been considered the province of Seniors even though many younger people have taken a shine to it of late and threatened our dominance at this sport. Perhaps it is a spin off from indoor bowls, which have been so popular with the younger generation, seeking a new challenge. Many Seniors have probably started playing Lawn Bowls long before retirement and as a result, by the time retirement catches up with them, they are quite proficient bowlers, having long ago learned the secret of putting that big black ball as close as possible to the little white ball and perhaps in the mean time, pushing their pesky opponents out of contention. For Seniors, who are considering it as a new skill and something to do with your spare time, the old hands will tell you it is not as simple as it seems. They will even tell you it is pure science, as this CD does, and requires a great deal of skill to be a champion.
You need to read the figures and the weight just right to be a champion bowler as this CD will also tell you. For many though, it is not so much a competition to become a champion, but just the enjoyment of your skill in putting your bowl just where you want it, and a skill indeed it is. This CD is ideal for the beginner, whether you plan to play social lawn bowls, or competition. It leads you step by step through all the things you need to know to become a proficient player.
It is produced at the Kensington Bowling Club in South Australia and provides just about all the theory you will need to get going, if you are a newcomer. It is a down to earth approach, using voice over, on screen text and video to get the message across, explaining each topic in some detail in an easy to follow manner. so that even the biggest dummy would understand. This CD takes you through all the necessary steps clearly and concisely, leaving even me who has never bowled before, well aware of how to achieve a perfect delivery, providing you do it right of course. This is a great CD to get if you are considering taking up Lawn Bowls.
It has obviously been put together by people dedicated to the sport of Lawn Bowls, who know what they are talking about, and covers all necessary bases though excellent videos and graphics. I have no doubt that anyone purchasing this CD, who wishes to take up the game, will get their monies worth and learn how to become a Lawn Bowls Champion if so inclined.
